Sparkke at the Whitmore is set to launch its revamped rooftop. It’s certainly been a hectic eight months for the sparkling new brewpub. Back in March, Sparkke opened in the near-200 year-old Whitmore Hotel in Adelaide.

Sparkke will unveil its new Rooftop Bar & Kitchen next week. The brewpub’s co-founder Rose Kentish told InDaily that this is the culmination of a six-month process.

“We had always intended to put a kitchen in [on the rooftop] and to extend and finish the bar, but when we were designing it and getting ready to open we thought, let’s just put in four taps and the bare bones of the bar upstairs and see what customers want and what works in the space,” Kentish says.

Sparkke’s bar, previously designed to accommodate 4 taps, is now extended to accommodate 10, so that all their beers brewed from their on-site nanobrewery can be poured upstairs.

The kitchen’s centrepiece a large custom-built wood fire, while a three-sided east-facing pavilion makes the space waterproof and gives patrons a view of all the action for a better connection with the staff.

New Business Needs and How H&L Will Help

Of course, with the boom in business, this revamp is expected to generate, Sparkke realised the need for a system that would ensure they were set up for success in this new venture. The rooftop bar & kitchen is expected to cause an increase in clientele, and their POS system will certainly need to handle that. Fortunately, they’re set up to do well with H&L.

Sparkke has now implemented H&L’s Sysnet back officeExceed POS and Xero accounting interface. They’ve also replaced their prior hardware with H&L’s new Xpos Terminals.

By taking advantage of all the tools H&L have to offer, Sparrke now has the capacity to:

  • Receive deposits for functions and recognise the revenue on the day of the function.
  • Assign sales items to revenue groups for reporting.
  • Assign items to print at different food prep stations and streamline printing processes.
  • Receive and process invoices into Sysnet in a fraction of the time.
  • Define revenue locations in their venue, but consolidate locations for inventory control.
  • Restaurant POS and Bar POS each function to suit their style of service.
  • Sysnet to Xero exporter streamlines and speeds up accounting functions.
